By Friday, Temi had stopped thinking of the missing 10k as a mistake.
It wasn't.
She knew that now.
That afternoon, Mr. Biodun forwarded her an account performance report and asked her to clean it up before close of business.
Temi opened the file and frowned.
She turned to Kunle.
“Please, what does this have to do with content?”
“Nothing.”
“Okay. Just checking.”
Kunle smiled. “Enjoy your exposure.”
“Abeg.”
By 5:30, she was still working on it.
Most of the office had started packing up. Sade helped her with two figures she didn't understand, then left.
When Temi finally sent the report, Mr. Biodun replied almost immediately.
Great. Thanks.
That was all.
Later, downstairs, Kunle was waiting for her.
“Buka?”
Temi looked at the time. “At this hour?”
“Are you coming or not?”
She followed him.
They found a table near the back.
Temi had barely started eating when she looked at him.
“So what am I supposed to do?”
“With?”
“This place.”
Kunle wiped his hand with a tissue.
“Do you need the salary?”
“Yes.”
“Then don't resign because you're angry.”
“I wasn't planning to.”
“Good.”
Temi looked at him. “So?”
“Document everything.”
She frowned. “Everything?”
“Your work. What you did. What you contributed. If you build a campaign, keep record of it. If you work on a pitch and it wins, note it. If you're doing work outside your role, note that too.”
“For what?”
“For yourself.”
Temi looked at him.
“One day you'll leave Pinnacle and somebody will ask what you actually did here. Don't sit there saying you assisted the team.”
That made sense.
Kunle continued eating.
“And learn whatever you can. If they're going to stretch you, at least collect something from the stretch.”
Temi laughed. “You people have damaged that word for me.”
“Good.”
That night, she opened a new document on her personal laptop.
She named it:
log.docx
Then she started typing.
Adeleke Campaign — Developed campaign framework.
Account Performance Report — Prepared and cleaned up.
Salary agreed: ₦85,000.
Salary paid: ₦75,000.
She stared at the page.
Then added the late-night voice note.
11:23 p.m.
She saved the document.
For the first time since joining Pinnacle, Temi felt like she was keeping something for herself.
Not the files.
Not the clients.
The proof.
