The Covenant changed.

The registers were destroyed.

Rank no longer decided a person’s value.

The old records were opened.

The people harmed by the Covenant were named.

Kofi became the head of a new human protection unit.

He had no power—but no one questioned his courage.

Amara became the Covenant’s chief Seer.

She still wore Babycat.

The fragrance had changed since the war. The vanilla remained, but she no longer used it to hide the untamed part of herself.

Now she wore both openly.

Dr. Obi rebuilt the archive.

Zara and Adisa created a refuge for people whose gifts did not fit any known class.

Adisa carried a scar over his heart.

Gris Charnel settled differently over it. Warmer. Deeper. Sometimes, when he used too much power, the fragrance went cold around the scar.

Zara always noticed.

Her power was smaller now.

She could no longer understand everything she touched.

She did not regret it.

She still wore Portrait of a Lady.

Amouage Guidance sometimes appeared beneath it—not every day, and never when she searched for it.

Only when she needed to remember.

Portrait of a Lady no longer felt like armour.

It felt like herself.

One evening, Adisa joined her on Third Mainland Bridge.

Traffic moved behind them. The lagoon reflected the last light of the day.

Gris Charnel reached Zara in the evening wind.

She smiled before turning toward him.

“Was it worth it?” he asked.

“The loss?”

“All of it.”

Zara thought about her grandmother.

About the people they had saved.

About the world still free to choose its own future.

Portrait of a Lady moved softly around her.

“Yes.”

Adisa took her hand.

The Gris Charnel on his skin mixed with the rose and incense on hers.

He kissed her beneath the Lagos sky.

For one quiet moment, there were no spirits, Gates or prophecies.

Only them.

Then Zara’s phone rang.

She answered.

“Amara?”

Babycat seemed to travel through the line before Amara spoke.

Her voice was shaking.

“A child produced a blank result in Accra.”

Zara looked at Adisa.

He read the fear in her face.

“What happened?”

“There is more,” Amara continued. “The child drew a picture after the ceremony.”

Zara tightened her grip on the phone.

“What picture...?”

“Seven Gates.”

Babycat turned smoky through the silence.

Adisa moved closer.

“Zara, what did she say?”

Portrait of a Lady sharpened on Zara’s skin.

Gris Charnel went still beside it.

Far beneath both fragrances, Amouage Guidance appeared.

One final warning.

Zara turned toward the dark water.

Far below the bridge... something opened its eyes.
